Today in History
June 1984 – Prime Minister Robert Muldoon surprised many by announcing a ‘snap’ election to be held in exactly one month’s time. He hoped to catch the opposition Labour Party under-prepared, but the gamble backfired and National suffered a heavy defeat.
Quote of the Week
“He who marvels at the beauty of the world in summer will find equal cause for wonder and admiration in winter.” John Burroughs
Greetings and welcome into Week 7 of Term 2. It is hard to believe in just a few short weeks we will be half way through the school year…time is flying. It is good to be back at school this week after my study tour last week in Melbourne. It was a busy week and I gathered a lot of useful information that will make it’s way into our school over the coming weeks and months.
Teachers are currently putting together mid-year reports for your children and you can expect them in Week 10.
Tomorrow night (Thursday 14th) is our School Disco night. The disco will run from 5:30pm to 7pm. It is $4 pp or if you have 3 children $10. This amount covers their dinner (either American Hotdog & Chips or Nuggets and Chips) a drink, and some other small treats as well as the disco lighting that we hire. The disco is strictly for our pupils and our Kick Start preschooler’s. NO big siblings thank you, this is a special evening for our pupils only.
Basketball Fun Day
This Friday is the Morrinsville Basketball Fun Day run by David Street School. The children involved have all brought home a notice. Please return permission slips tomorrow. Mrs. Hickford will be accompanying the teams for the morning. Good luck for Friday!
Inter-School Cross Country
Next Friday is the Inter-School Cross Country at Tahuna Golf course. This event is for all pupils 7 – 11 years of age. We will send out further information early next week.
Kickstart to School
Due to Mrs. Hickford’s commitments with the Basketball teams this Friday and Cross Country next Friday there will be a two-week break for the Kickstart programme. She will see the children again on Friday 29thJune.
We have our next ‘Chicken Chucking’ on Thursday 21stJune. We don’t have confirmed times yet, but please keep it in mind if you have some spare time on Thursday. The Chicken Chucking is one of our best fundraisers each year and we very much appreciate the continued parent support of this venture.
NZEI Union Meeting – School Closed from 12:30pm
On Monday 25th June at 1:30pm the teachers from our school will be attending a paid NZEI meeting in Hamilton. As a result we are obliged to inform you all, that officially the school will be closed for instruction that day from 12:30pm onwards. I strongly encourage parents to make arrangements to collect their children by 1:00pm on Monday 25th June, however if you are unable to do so, you MUST inform us by the end of next week. A reminder notice will be sent home next week also.
Sausage and Bread or Pie $1.50
Saturday Sausage Sizzle at The Warehouse
Our wonderful PTA will be outside The Morrinsville Warehouse this coming Saturday morning selling sausages for our school. Please encourage friends and family to stop in for a hot sausage if they’re in town.
Check out our Facebook Page
Our Facebook page is constantly being updated with new posts and is a great way to keep up with all the activities the children have at our school.
Junior Tough Guy and Gal Challenge
A bunch of brave seniors headed up to Ngaruawahia last Wednesday to compete in the Primary Schools’ challenge. By the looks of the photos, a great time was had by all, well done!
Farewell from Trinette
Dear Parents & Caregivers of Room 1 students.
My 5 weeks of practicum here at Motumaoho School has come to an end. I would like to express my gratitude for welcoming me and allowing me to learn alongside your children. I have thoroughly enjoyed each student and their unique characters. I wish them well for their educational journey and hope to see them again in the near future.
Thank you for the support,
All the best from us Trinette. We have enjoyed having you being a part of Room 1 and Motumaoho School!
Justin and staff.
