Hello and welcome to our very last newsletter of the year. This is my final week at Motumaoho School and and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school community for an amazing 9 years. I have been privileged to work with so many delightful active students and dedicated staff over my time here. I will take with me many happy memories, and am extremely grateful to the community being so welcoming to my family as they grew through the school. I would especially like to thank the current Motumaoho School staff, who are such an amazing and hard working group of professionals, they go above and beyond for the children, and as a school we are so lucky to have such an amazing team. I would also like to wish you a safe and happy Christmas and New years and hope that you have a fabulous summer with your precious children. I am confident that Phillip and his team look forward in welcoming you back for an exciting and productive year beginning on Monday the 4th February 2019.
We have a number of Year 6’s to farewell this year, and we wish them all the very best with their learning journey at Intermediate School. Also a few families are moving on to start new adventures elsewhere and we sincerely hope that they take with them many happy memories of their time at Motumaoho School.
Junior Class Parent Help
We have been especially lucky to have Debra-Lee Lawrance volunteering her time in our Junior Class every Thursday, as well as a few other odd jobs, which have popped up. It certainly makes our teaching job that much easier having another pair of helping hands. Thank you Debbie, we have really appreciated all the time and effort that you have put into the school this term.
Our end of year prizegiving is this evening and this is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the year that has been and to celebrate all the successes that we have achieved, the programme starts at 7pm at the Little Theatre in Morrinsville. See you all there!
Farewell to Jessica Baker
Jessica will be leaving her role as School Cleaner/Caretaker/Teacher Assistant at the end of the year. Jess has always had an extremely high level of commitment to our school, often spending her own time tending to the grounds/pool, or staying on to help out when needs arise. We would like to thank Jessica for being such an amazing part of the team and we wish her the very best with what lies ahead in the future.
We had a great day at Waihi Beach last week. It was definitely one of the best Beach Education Sessions that I have attended so far. The great thing about the timing is to make our children more aware about some of the dangers at the beach in the upcoming summer season, and to better understand the role that the life guards play. The best part was definitely our swim in the freezing water and it was great to see most of the children being so confident in the waves.
Welcome Angela Henderson
We are extremely excited to announce that we have employed a new junior teacher for 2019. Her name is Angela Henderson and she is extremely experienced having taught in a range of levels over the course of her career. Angela has already met some of you at the PTA BBQ last Friday and I know that she is extremely excited to get to know everyone else at the beginning of the school year.
