Principal’s Message

Dear parents, families and whanau,

Kia ora koutau katoa,

Wow! Three weeks have gone really fast. As the old saying goes “time flies when you are having fun.” Indeed our children have, and I must applaud them for their engagement and focus they are showing in their learning. Our staff have quickly settled into their teaching programmes and I am most thankful for their preparation and desire to make our school a positive learning environment for our children.

School Parent Survey

Today we are sending home a Parent Survey. This survey is an opportunity for our parent community to have a say in the educational direction of Motumaoho School in the next two to three years. All surveys received back in by Friday 8th March will go in the draw for a box of chocolates! There will be a box in the office foyer for you to return your surveys.

Professional Development for Staff

We are fortunate to have Kath Jones who provides our teachers with professional development in literacy. Our teachers are currently working with Kath on enhancing their effective reading programmes.

I have been very pleased with how our school assemblies on Friday have been going. Well done to our senior leaders who are making the most of this opportunity by being prepared and ready to lead. It’s awesome to see the classrooms presenting their learning and seeing them standing up in front of everybody with confidence. The juniors performed a fantastic song that incorporated learning how to count in tune. I was super proud! Thanks to the many parents who were there to support our assembly.

Congratulations to our cup holders who have displayed Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Thank you for displaying our 3 values.

Our gardens are planted and we look forward to seeing how they grow. Our tomatoes at the front of our school are already red and ripe – yummy!

Friday Ice-blocks

With the beautiful weather we are having, our learners will be able to purchase an ice-block for .50c on Fridays. Please hand money to your classroom teacher.

Wheels Day

On Fridays our learners can bring bikes, scooters, skateboards or skates to use during the breaks, however helmets and any other safety gear MUST be worn.

We often update our Facebook page with photos of our Motumaoho learners in action. We do this as it’s a great opportunity to show our community the amazing things our learners are doing.

PTA Facebook page please join our PTA facebook page and show your support! Our PTA has a meeting on Sunday the 10thof March at 7.15pm. If you are able to make it that will be great.

New Enrolments

If you know of any parent or parents who have a child turning five soon or are  thinking of making a change with where they send their child, please let them know we have places available in both of our classrooms. Direct them to me please for information about our school to help them make an informed decision.
