Principal’s Message

Dear parents, families and whanau,

Kia ora koutau katoa,

It is fantastic to see everybody back for another productive Term. Our learners have got back into their classroom routines with keenness and focus. This week our learners have been working with their teachers on their new learning goals which are an essential part of each child’s learning pathway and for them to take ownership for their learning.

Mid-Year Reports

These went out at the end of Term 2. It makes me immensely proud to read through all the children’s reports and to see the positive progress all our learners are making thus far in 2019. If you have any questions or queries regarding your child’s learning please make an appointment to see your child’s teacher to discuss.

The 3R’s Cup Winner

Week 10: Chase Hooker

Congratulations to Chase, our cup holder for Week 10 who has displayed Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Thank you for displaying our 3 values.

Welcome to Elsa

We would like to welcome Elsa who is learning with us for two weeks. She comes from China. Elsa has already made a positive start at school and she has made many new friends. We wish her all the best for her two week stay with us.

Term Three – Big Idea learning

Our teachers and learners have made a start with the ‘where in the world’ countries unit. With a number of sporting world cups that have just taken place and with another one coming up soon, our learners have the opportunity to learn about where our country is in relation to the rest of the world and learn about other countries.

Sophie from Team Energise will start the healthy eating and drinking lessons in week 2. The themes that are covered sugary drinks, breakfast and the four food groups. These sessions will be of great benefit and will help our school support our learners with their health and well-being.

Assembly

We will have assembly every second week starting from Friday the 2nd of August. We really appreciate the support shown for our learners at assemblies. Our final assembly of Term 2 was enjoyable handing out awards and celebrating our learners achievements across multiple learning areas.

Music and Art

Our learners in action learning the recorder and working on their art skills.

Skool Loop App

We encourage you to download our Skool Loop App if you haven’t already done so. We will start using this more frequently for notices, urgent updates and it now has a permission form feature where you can complete forms and submit to the school office via the app and/or email. Go to the App Store or Google Play and search for ‘Skool Loop’. Once downloaded you can choose our school. If you already use the app for another school it’s not a problem, you can alternate between schools. The Skool Loop App is an amazing tool that is free for our school as it is supported by the businesses that are advertised along the bottom of the app. If you are a business who would like to be recognised on our Skool Loop App, please contact Angela in the office for more information. You can also notify the school if your child is absent via the app as it links to our phone and email.

Items from Home

While we understand how our learners love to bring some of their special things or new and exciting toys to school, we strongly discourage this. Unfortunately items can be damaged or even go missing and we don’t like to risk this and having upset children. Please keep your special items safe at home, thank you.

Accounts

Thank you to those families who followed up on their overdue accounts and made payments before or during the holidays. However there are still a few outstanding accounts which need to be settled ASAP. As mentioned previously, we are happy for you to set up an automatic payment to keep your account under control. The school account number is on the bottom of your statement or contact Angela for account details. Thank you.

New Enrolments

If you know of any parent or parents who have a child turning five soon or are thinking of making a change with where they send their child, please let them know we have places available in both of our classrooms. Direct them to me please for information about our school to help them make an informed decision.

Nga mihi
