Principal’s Message

Dear parents, families and whanau,

Kia ora kautou,

As we are in the second to last week of school and this will be the last school newsletter for 2019, I would like to thank all the parents for your support for our school and I look forward to continuing working with you all next year. Our learners have all had a fantastic year and it has been so great seeing you all make positive progress in your learning. I am proud that our 3R’s have been a success and this is due to our learners consistently role modelling these. Keep up the wonderful work learners! Thank you to all our staff for their hardworking and commitment to our learners for 2019.

I also would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to Jenny Scott who was our ORRS funded qualified teacher for 2019. She has done an outstanding job. Next year she is no longer with us in this role but she will be relieving from time to time.

The 3R’s Cup Winners

Week 8: William Hughes & Chase Hooker

3 R’s Cup Holders – Chase & William

Congratulations to both William and Chase, our cup holders for Week 8, who have both  displayed Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Thank you for displaying our 3 values.

Classroom Awards to Date

Week 8: Rm 1 – Maddisyn Evans & Kayla Healy, Rm 2 – AJ Latu.

Altrusa Awards

Last week the Altrusa awards were held in Morrinsville. Kayla Healy and AJ Latu were nominated by our school to receive an award each. They both demonstrate excellence in all areas of literacy. Kayla and AJ were able to select some books from Paper Plus Morrinsville in recognition of their achievements.

Reading with Rotary

Term 4’s Reading with Rotary recipient is Georgia Evans. Georgia is a happy and confident reader. She learnt her reading strategies from Ms. Roberts in Year One and has spent 2019 developing her skills and now is able to read effortlessly. At Level 22, Georgia is enjoying the variety of reading styles offered in the Junior Journals. Georgia can be relied upon to support all readers in the Junior Room classroom and her confidence in reading is often displayed at assembly. Georgia is a excellent reading role model and we are all very proud of her progress in Reading. Congratulations Georgia, we hope you enjoy choosing a book with your voucher at Paper Plus.

Super effort by all of you and keep up the great work!

We really appreciate the support shown for our learners at assemblies. Our juniors shared some highlights of their year and the seniors shared their summer poems at our last assembly.

PTA Christmas BBQ

Tomorrow night is our PTA Christmas BBQ. Please bring a plate to share – Room 1 families please bring a salad & Room 2 families a dessert. Only one plate per family (if you have a child in each class, you choose!) Our PTA will supply chips, bread and sausages. The pool will be open from 5:30-6pm. Please supervise your own children. Feel free to bring a picnic blanket to relax and enjoy the evening.

End of Year Prizegiving

On Wednesday 18th December we will be holding our end of year prize giving. This will be at the Morrinsville Theatre on Anderson Street at 7pm. This is an evening to celebrate the achievements of our learners. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Thank you to our Team Energizer

We have received a collection of sports balls from Sophie our Team Energizer. We thank her, and Sport Waikato for thinking about us and we look forward to using the sports gear.

Roofing Project

During the week of the 13thJanuary we are getting our main roof replaced. This will be fantastic for our school. The work is to be done by Morrinsville Laser Plumbing.

New Heat Pumps

We have had a new heat pump installed in our junior room and library. We would like to thank Noel Leeming Morrinsville for installing and providing these heat pumps.

School Pool Keys

We have pool keys available for the community to hire for the duration our pool is running. These are $50. You will need to sign a pool user declaration form and payment must be received in full before keys are issued. Please see the school office before the last week of school if you would like one for the season.

Please settle your accounts before the end of the school term. You are welcome to set up an automatic payment to the school  so it can be easily managed and settled before the new school year. Thank you to those families who ensure their account is up to date, we appreciate it.

New Enrolments

If you know of any parent or parents who have a child turning five soon or are thinking of making a change with where they send their child, please let them know we have places available in both of our classrooms. Please direct them to me for information about our school, to help them make an informed decision.

Last Day of School

Our last day of school is Thursday 19th December at 12:15pm. Please collect your children at this time as school will be closed for the afternoon, thank you.

We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and summer break with your families.

Merry Christmas!
