Dear parents, families and whanau,
Kia ora koutau katoa,
Wow! 3 ½ weeks have gone super-fast. As the old saying goes “time flies when you are having fun.” Indeed our learners have, and I must congratulate them for their engagement and focus they are showing in their learning. Our staff have settled into their teaching programmes and I am most thankful for their preparation and desire to make our school a positive learning environment for our learners.
Professional Development for Staff
Through the Morrinsville Kahui ako we are fortunate to have secured the services of Tabitha Leonard who is a previous student of our school. She will provide our teachers with professional development that will support them with their learning programmes and teaching inquiries.
The 3R’s Cup Winner
Week 2: Charlotte Bigham
Congratulations to Charlotte, our cup holder for Week 2, who has displayed Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Thank you for displaying our 3 values.
Classroom Awards to Date
Week 2: Rm 1 – Maddisyn Evans, Rm 2 – Taize Hooker.
Super effort by all of you and keep up the great work!
Our next assembly is this Friday. Assembly will start at 1.45pm. At these assemblies it will be an opportunity for our learners to share their learning for the week through work samples. Our senior leaders will lead the assembly as part of their leadership development. It is important that our older children have this opportunity of speaking to an audience as this quality will support them in building confidence through public speaking.
Swimming with Sophie from Sport Waikato
On Tuesday our learners had their first pool session with Sophie. The focus of the lessons is to support our learners with beginning to learn how to swim or supporting them from moving onto their next stage in their swimming.
On Fridays our learners can bring bikes, scooters, skateboards or skates to use during the breaks, however helmets and any other safety gear MUST be worn.
PTA Welcome/Farewell BBQ
On Monday evening the PTA are holding a BBQ to welcome in our new families and also to farewell Isabelle and Bea who are heading back to their home in England. It’s been wonderful having you both being a part of Motumaoho School and in particular Room 1. We will miss you and hope you come back and say hello next time you travel back to New Zealand!
If we could ask families of learners in Room 1 to bring a dessert to share and Room 2 please bring a salad or savoury dish. The PTA will supply hot chips, sausages and drinks. Starts at 5:30pm. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
PTA Lunchtime Sausage Sizzle
Thank you to our PTA who ran the BBQ last Friday for school lunches. What a success! Everyone was very excited to be able to purchase a sausage and a Juicie. The PTA intend to run a sausage sizzle every fortnight on a Friday.
We often update our Motumaoho School Facebook page with photos of our Motumaoho learners in action. We do this as it’s a great opportunity to show our community the amazing things our learners are doing.
The PTA also have a Facebook page. Please join our Motumaoho School PTA Facebook page and show your support!
If you know of any parent or parents who have a child turning five soon or are thinking of making a change with where they send their child, please let them know we have places available in both of our classrooms. Direct them to me please for information about our school to help them make an informed decision.
