Dear parents, families and whanau,
Kia ora koutau katoa,
It is fantastic to welcome you back for another productive Term 3. Our learners have got back into their classroom routines with keenness, focus and displaying our 3 R’s. This week our learners have been working with their teachers on their new learning goals which are an essential part of each child’s learning pathway and for them to take ownership for their learning.
We are sad to have farewelled Catherine, Andrea, Cole and Scarlet at the end of last term. You have all positively contributed to Motumaoho School and we have enjoyed you being an important part of our classrooms. We wish you all and both families all the best with your new schools. Thank you for your support.
The mid-year reports will go home with our learners on Friday, week 2. I am currently reading though our learners reports and it makes me immensely proud to see the positive progress all our learners are making thus far in 2020. A week after the mid-year reports go home there will be parent conferences on Monday the 10th of August. Information about booking a time slot to meet your child’s teacher will come home with today’s newsletter.
The 3R’s Cup
It was great to acknowledge all our learners who have displayed our 3R’s since coming back from lockdown. Well done to you all!
Reading with Rotary Award
Congratulations Harrison you have made good progress in your reading due to your focused effort you have shown in term 2. Keep it up! Thank you to Rotary and Paper Plus Morrinsville who support this programme.
This week we started our new learning on where we are in New Zealand. In Room 1 our learning focus for Term 3 is “What does it mean to be a New Zealander?” We are exploring themes such as Kiwiana and other New Zealand cultures, history of New Zealand, geography and our place in the world. In Room 2 we have been developing our fine motor skills while looking at where Motumaoho School is in New Zealand and New Zealand icons.
Our next assembly will be next Friday at 1.45pm. At these assemblies it is an opportunity for our learners to share their learning for the week through work samples. Our senior leaders will lead the assembly as part of their leadership development. Liam, Kayla and Maddi have been doing a wonderful job with this. Keep up the good work!
We have spaces available in both classrooms at Motumaoho School. If you have a child turning five soon or know of any family who has a school aged child up to Year 6 who are moving into the area, please feel free to contact me for information about our school. I would be happy to help you make an informed decision.
Mr Otto and staff.
