Dear parents, families and whanau,
Kia ora koutau katoa,
We are well into Term 3 and it has been great to see our learners in the classroom focused on their learning. In both classrooms our learners have been working hard on their writing skills and I have been most impressed with listening to their stories. Keep up the great work!
The mid-year reports went home with our learners on Friday, week 2. The parent conferences are to discuss your child’s learning progress with their teacher and will be held on Monday the 10th of August. If you have not booked an appointment please do so. There are still times available. Thanks to those who have done this.
Our school library is up and running with all library books now on a new website base system. I would like to thank Angela Wainwright who had the big job of moving all the books onto our new system and making new library wall displays. The library will be a great opportunity for our learners to enjoy their reading in a special place in our school. To add we have had a heat pump installed that will make our library comfortable in the cold and warmer months.
The 3R’s Cup
Congratulations to Maddisyn, our cup holder for Week 2, who has displayed Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Thank you for displaying our 3 values!
Rm 1 – Savannah Hooker, Rm 2 – Cody Stanaway
Super effort by all of you and keep up the great work!
Congratulations to Liam for making the Waikato Country Under 11 Basketball Rep team. We know you have had a busy weekend with basketball and have more tournaments coming up. We look forward to seeing some action shots soon!
Our learners have been using the Kiwiana theme in their writing. The seniors are working on paragraph formation and the juniors have been working on sentence structure. Both skills are important when writing a clear message to the audience.
Our next assembly will be Friday 14th August at 1.45pm. At these assemblies it is an opportunity for our learners to share their learning for the week through work samples. Here is a photo from last week’s assembly of our learners showcasing the Kiwiana writing samples.
Buried Treasure at School!
We had a visit from a person who creates these display boards from items collected with a metal detector at schools. Thank you to Eric Karshagen for kindly donating this interesting piece to our school. I’m sure our learners will enjoy looking at some of these old items and coins.
We have spaces available in both classrooms at Motumaoho School. If you have a child turning five soon or know of any family who has a school aged child up to Year 6 who are moving into the area, please feel free to contact me for information about our school. I would be happy to help you make an informed decision.
Mr Otto and staff.
