Dear parents, families and whanau,
Kia ora kautou
As we near the end of November it has been brilliant to see many learners have continued to display our 3 R’s. Keep up the fantastic work!
Teachers are completing the end of year assessments and it has been extremely pleasing to hear the progress made by our learners.
Hopefully the weather continues to be nice and warm for our learners to use the school pool. It is great to have access to our pool at this time of the year to enjoy and cool off!
It has been a pleasure watching our learners enjoying our revamped bike track. Our bike track gives our learners an opportunity to work on their fitness and enjoy the thrills of riding their bike on the course with their peers. Thank you to Clive Stanaway for the hard work to get the track ready for our learners to use.
Our learners have been exploring our gully during lunchtimes. Another great natural resource we offer to our learners.
The 3R’s Cup
Congratulations to Harrison Sutton-Dewhurst, our cup holder for Week 6, who has displayed Respect, Responsibility and Resilience. Thank you Harrison for displaying our 3 values!
Rm 1 – Savannah Hooker, Rm 2 – Taize Hooker.
Super effort by all of you and keep up the great work!
Rural School Athletics day
Our school recently attended the annual Rural Schools’ Athletics day at Tauhei School. All our learners took part and it was positive to see. Also great to see the parent and family support. Thank you to those parents who helped with transport. Check out the action of our learners!
Harrison Sutton-Dewhurst (5 years) – 2nd High Jump
Cody Stanaway (6 years) – 2nd Long Jump
Tilli Morgan (7 years) – 1st Ball Throw
Maddisyn Evans (10 years) – 3rd Ball Throw
Liam Sutton-Dewhurst (11 years) – 3rd Ball Throw, 2nd Sprint
We took a small senior team to the annual Interschool Athletics at Morrinsville College. The day was very competitive and I was proud to see our learners giving it their all. We were represented by Savannah Hooker.
Savannah – 3rd in Girls Relay Team
Congratulations on your performance Savannah!
A great event organised and run by our small but active team of parents. We appreciate the work you do and look forward to our Christmas bbq coming up.
Our next assembly is Friday the 4th December. We really appreciate the support shown for our learners at assemblies.
All children have been issued a bucket hat to wear during our summer terms when outside. Also, please consider clothing that covers your child’s shoulders. We would greatly appreciate if you could apply sunblock to your child or children before sending them to school. We have a supply at school for them to re-apply later in the day and after swimming. It’s wonderful our learners have been enjoying some beautiful weather outside and we need to ensure they are protected while doing so.
School Pool Keys
We have pool keys available for the community to hire for the duration our pool is running. These are $50. You will need to sign a pool user declaration form and payment must be received in full before keys are issued. Please see the school office before the last week of school if you would like one for the season.
PTA End of Year BBQ
We will be holding our End of Year BBQ on Wednesday 9th December from 5:30pm. This is a family event, Grandparents are welcome too! Room 2 families will be asked to bring a savoury dish or salad to share, and Room 1 to bring a dessert please. The BBQ will be running and hot chips will be supplied by the PTA. We will remind you again closer to the time.
PTA Christmas Hamper
The PTA are holding a Christmas Hamper raffle and would like donations of grocery items to help contribute towards this fundraiser. Please bring in a couple of non perishable items if you can, that will help make up an exciting Christmas hamper! Please, no expired items. If these could be brought in by next Wednesday and raffle tickets will be available to purchase soon after. It will be drawn at the end of our school prize-giving evening. Thank you in advance.
If you know of any parent or parents who have a child turning five soon or are thinking of making a change with where they send their child, please let them know we have places available in both of our classrooms. Please direct them to me for information about our school, and to help them make an informed decision.
