Dear parents, families and whanau,
Kia ora kautou,
As we are nearing the end of the 2020 school year this will be the last school newsletter. I will proudly take this opportunity to thank all the parents and caregivers for your support of Motumaoho school. Our learners have all had a positive year with their learning. I am proud that our 3R’s have continued to be a success particularly during this changeable and difficult year. But the 3R’s have shone through and guided us to continue on our learning path of growth and success. Keep up the wonderful work learners! Thank you to all our staff for their hard work, commitment and desire to do the best for our learners for 2020.
I also would like to take this opportunity to give a big thank you to Angela Wainwright who has successfully completed 10 years service as our hardworking and reliable office administrator. The work you do has been much appreciated over the duration you have been here.
On Monday the Altrusa awards were held in Morrinsville. Tilli Morgan was nominated by our school to receive an award. Tilli is a confident and fluent reader at Level 18 an we are all so proud of her progress! Tilli was able to select a book from Paper Plus Morrinsville in recognition of her achievements. Congratulations Tilli!
Reading with Rotary
Term 4’s Reading with Rotary recipients were Cooper and Liam. Cooper loves to read and is moving up through the levels very quickly. Liam has also made outstanding progress in his reading. Congratulations to both boys, we hope you enjoy choosing a book with your voucher at Paper Plus.
Our last assembly for 2020 will be this Friday starting at 1.45pm. We appreciate the support at our assemblies to celebrate our learners achievements and work they are currently doing in class.
PTA End of Year BBQ
As previously mentioned we have postponed our End of Year BBQ until Monday 14th December. There have been a number of learners absent from school this week due to illness, so we decided to move this event so everyone can attend. It will be scaled down somewhat; parents, we no longer require a plate thank you. But our PTA will have sausages and chips for our learners at lunchtime and will run games and activities for them afterwards. If any parents would still like to come along, please RSVP to the office or Mr Otto to ensure we cater for everyone who will be here.
End of Year Prizegiving
On Monday 14th December we will be holding our end of year prize giving. This will be at the Morrinsville Theatre on Anderson Street at 7pm. This is an evening to celebrate the achievements of our learners. We look forward to seeing you all there. We will also have some small items and songs that our teachers and learners have been working on. Can’t wait!
10 Year Property Plan
Every five years schools’ receive an allocation of building funding from the Ministry to develop and improve the learning spaces. The process has started with our property service consultant and the board meets with him in March next year to discuss options. This will be a very exciting time for our school.
School Pool Keys
We have pool keys available for the community to hire for the duration our pool is running. These are $50. You will need to sign a pool user declaration form and payment must be received in full before keys are issued. Please see the school office before the last day of school if you would like one for the season.
PTA Hamper – Postponed until Term 1
The PTA have decided to run the grocery hamper raffle early next year now. This will give the PTA time to ensure it’s a bigger and better hamper! Thank you to those families who have donated items already. We have put these aside to be used in the new year.
Learners in Action
2021 Classes/Stationery Lists
Next year our classes will remain the same with Room 2 (Junior Class) made up of our Year 1 and 2 learners. Room 1 (Senior Class) will have our Year 3-6 learners.
Stationery lists for next year have been completed. We will send these home with the reports on Monday.
Teacher Only Days for 2021
For the current Teacher Collective Agreement the Ministry have allocated 8 Teacher Only Days to be used by the end of the agreement which is in 18 months time. These days are to support our teachers with their workload and provide time for Professional Development. This year, we did not take any of those allocated days due to the already unsettled year relating to Covid 19.
|Term 1||Thursday 1st April (TBA)|
|Term 2||Friday 4th June, Monday 21st June|
|Term 3||Friday 10th September|
|Term 4||Monday 8th November|
If you know of any parent or parents who have a child turning five soon or are thinking of making a change with where they send their child, please let them know we have places available in both of our classrooms. Please direct them to me for information about our school, and to help them make an informed decision.
Last Day of School
Our last day of school is Tuesday 15th December at 12:15pm. Please collect your children at this time as school will be closed for the afternoon, thank you.
We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and summer break with your families. As 2020 has been an incredibly different year for all, make sure you take some time to have a rest.
