Principal’s Message

Dear parents, families and whanau,

Kia ora koutau katoa,

I am pleased with the efforts our learners are making with their learning. It’s great to see the motivation and drive to succeed. I look forward to seeing this continued development.

I would like to thank the teachers for organising a great trip to Sanctuary Mountain yesterday and the parents who were able to provide transport and help out.

Professional Development for our Teachers

Our application for ‘Assessment for Learning PLD’ has been approved for 50 Ministry funded hours. A huge success for our school as this PLD will support our focuses for lifting learner achievement in reading, writing and maths. The PLD is done through the facilitator Tabitha Leonard who is a former student of Motumaoho School. Exciting times for our teachers and learners!

The 3R’s Cup Winner

Week 6: Ezra Cooke

Congratulations to Ezra, our cup holder for Week 6, who has displayed Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Service. Thank you for displaying our 3RS values.

Assembly

Our next assembly is this Friday. Assembly will start at 1.45pm. At these assemblies it will be an opportunity for our learners to share their learning for the week through work samples. Our senior will lead the assembly as part of their leadership development.

Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari Trip

On Tuesday the 23rd March our school went on a school trip to Sanctuary Mountain, Maungatautari. Our learners enjoyed the opportunity to experience New Zealand’s rich biodiversity. I hope you enjoy the photos!

Writing Samples

I enjoy when our learners come to me and share their writing and the joy on their face when I give them a Principal Award sticker is delightful! Enjoy the following:

We are going on a school trip to Sanctuary Mountain and it will be fun. They put netting around the mountain to stop predators getting in the mountain because kiwis and other birds are laying eggs. By Taize.

I am going to Sanctuary Mountain to find some creatures like the kiwi, kaka, takahe and kokako. Sanctuary Mountain has a big fence around to protect the birds. By Cooper.

Tomorrow we are going to the Sanctuary Mountain. We are going for a bush walk and get to hold a real kiwi egg. By Leon

We are going on a school trip to Sanctuary Mountain. I hope that we find lots of little eggs. We need netting to keep the predators out. There are kiwis and other birds on the Mountain. By Harrison.

PTA Lunchtime Sausage Sizzle

Thank you to Dulcie and our PTA who ran a sausage sizzle at school on Friday for lunch. The PTA intend to do these every fortnight, however the next one will be held on the last day of term – Friday 16th April. We will remind you closer to the time.
