Principal’s Message
Tēnā Koutou Katoa
We are still buzzing with excitement after our cross country day here at school. It was such a crazy day with the unpredictable weather that ranged from stormy winds, torrential rain to beautiful sunshine. Thank you for supporting our students who ran well and most importantly, had a great time. We are especially proud of the effort and resilience that were shown by our students, encouraging each other and not giving up. Ka pai! That is the Motumaoho way!
Staff Resignations
We regret to inform you that Ms Roberts has resigned from her position as principal release teacher here at Motumaoho School. A need to spend more time with her family has brought her to this decision. We would like to thank Ms Roberts for her commitment, professionalism, support, friendship and kindness to everyone that she has worked with. You will be surely missed by the staff, the parent community and of course our wonderful students. Our best wishes accompany you.
Due to ill health, we also had to farewell Lesley Mcilroy (teacher aide). Thank you for your contribution to Motumaoho School. A short stay, but well appreciated. We wish you a speedy recovery.
Celebrating our Support Staff
All schools in New Zealand are recognising the great work support staff do in schools. We have a great team that helps everyone here at Motumaoho School. We would like to celebrate and acknowledge the effort they make in meeting the needs of our students, staff and parent community. Thank you for everything you do.
COVID19 and Winter illnesses
We would like to remind everyone to sign in at the office when visiting the school. Masks are also to be worn when inside the school. We welcome parents settling their child/ren in at the start of the day but please wear your mask and use the sanitizer that we provide.
At the moment we are not just battling COVID in our community but also flu and gastroenteritis. Please monitor your child/ren for symptoms and if unwell, keep your child/ren at home. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Jumping June
With Jumping June only 2 weeks away on 28th June, we are getting closer! If you are currently fundraising, THANK YOU! But don’t worry, it is not too late to register and raise some money for the Heart Foundation. Just go to www.jumpingjune.co.nz and create a student profile page. In addition to supporting the Heart Foundation, students who raise upwards of $10 will be able to choose a prize!
By fundraising for an organisation, it is also giving our children a way of showing an act of service, which is one of our school values
With more information, in regards to how the day will run coming out next week, we are looking forward to seeing our children practicing and getting excited about the event to come.
3R’s and S Awards
These awards are presented to students who consistently demonstrate our values of:
Respect/Whakaute, Resilience/Manahau, Responsibility/Kawenga and Service/Ratonga.
Congratulations to: Miller Cable
Matariki
We are currently focussing on learning more about Matariki in both classrooms. We have been learning the names of the different stars and how Matariki is celebrated. This will continue over the next 2 weeks. Feel free to support this learning at home.
Toys/Bikes At School
A reminder that toys should only be brought to school when they are required as part of a learning. If this is the case, you will be notified by the teacher.
Bikes can be brought to school on Fridays as we have the school bikes available the rest of the week. Skateboards and scooters are discouraged at school due to our small concrete areas and the presence of stones that are causing accidents.
PTA Fundraiser

- New World Morrinsville
- Hamilton Wholesale Meats
- Inghams Chicken
- Mr Chips (Bidfoods Hamilton)
Yummy Stickers
A reminder that our school is participating in the Yummy Sticker promotion again this year. We are asking you to collect yummy cut-out labels from bags (each cut-out label is worth 10 stickers) and individual Yummy apple stickers.
Please ask your child to return these sheets to the office as you complete them and pick up a new one. You can also download the sheets from http:www.yummyfruit.co.nz/schoolstickerpromo
Participating schools get a share of $200,000 worth of sports gear, depending on the number of stickers collected. The promotion ends at the end of Term 3 so please keep collecting.
School Policies – SchoolDocs
All school policies are on a website called SchoolDocs. SchoolDocs provides us with a comprehensive set of policies, which have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education guidelines. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, as the school supplies specific information. SchoolDocs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, and regular reviewing. The website is: motumaoho.schooldocs.co.nz The username is: motumaoho and the password is: striving
The link to School Docs will always be available on our school website under the Information tab, then down to Policies and Procedures.
