Principal’s Message
Tēnā Koutou Katoa
It is difficult to believe that this will be our last newsletter for 2023 so it is appropriate that we start with thanking everyone belonging to our Motumaoho Whānau for all your support, kindness and understanding throughout 2022. Without your support as parents, extended family, PTA, etc. Motumaoho School cannot be the special place that it is.
While we haven’t been in lock-down as such, the combination of COVID, winter illnesses and other factors have left us all feeling pretty exhausted. It is therefore important that we keep being kind to each other and remember to communicate our wonderings, ideas and concerns to class teachers or Mrs Baptist at the earliest convenience. We are always ready to listen and support.
STAFFING FOR 2023
At the end of this year we farewell Miss Courtney Smith. We would like to thank Miss Smith for her commitment to our kura and wish her all the best for her new journey. We will formally farewell Miss Smith at our prizegiving on Monday, 12 December.
The Motumaoho Board of Trustees is pleased to inform you that Mrs Isabel De’Ath has been appointed to join the staff from the beginning of 2023. Mrs De’Ath is an experienced teacher and will teach in Ruma Tui. She is moving to the Waikato region with her family, from Auckland during the holidays. Welcome, Mrs De’Ath! We are excited to have you on board.
Mrs Nagel and Mrs Baptist will be Ruma Piwakawaka’s teachers next year and we are very excited about working with our younger students. Parents, please be in touch if you have any questions.
We are planning an evening where you will be able to meet with the classroom teachers to discuss your child’s goals, interests, etc. early in 2023. More information about this evening will be shared with you at the start of the school year.
SETTING OUR LEARNERS UP FOR SUCCESS
On Friday, 2 December our Year 6 students visited Morrinsville Intermediate for their orientation day. They met their new teachers and some classmates, participated in team building activities and modeled our school values throughout. Well done! We are going to miss you all but realise that you are ready for the next step in your school journey. Wishing you all the best for the future.
Our students transitioning from ECE to Motumaoho School, attended ‘Kickstart’ sessions over the last two weeks. These transition visits set students up for success because it removes the element of the unknown and builds the foundations for strong relationships. We will welcome our new students formally in the new year.
2023 STATIONERY
Stationery lists will be sent home with all of our student’s school reports. All stationery has been arranged and pre-packed for your child’s year level at Morrinsville Paper Plus. This is an excellent option that ensures our students have the correct stationery required and is all done for you. These will be available to purchase from Monday, 9 January. Please ensure your child comes to school on the first day with their full stationery requirements. Please do not name the items.
END OF YEAR SPRING CLEANING
We have started our big clean up/sort out of readers, library books, equipment, etc. If you come across any items that belong to our school, please return these to your child’s classroom teacher as soon as you can. This includes any clothing items that your child might have received from us during the year e.g. track pants, t-shirt when a change of clothes was needed.
All library books need to be returned as soon as possible. No new issues will be made.
